This peaceful, natural location near Naples, NY is a favorite of many locals. Very few know that it was a sacred sight for the Seneca tribe, who believed this to be the crack in the earth from which their forefathers stepped out of and founded their great tribe at the chosen spot of Kanandague. This picturesque spot is the cradle of a once-great civilization; the keepers of the western door of the Iroquois Confederacy.

This particular shot shows the small cascades leading up to the waterfalls higher up in the gorge.

Also available in the Black and White gallery.

Location: Clark’s Gully
Taken: May 2006
Photographer: Matthew Conheady

Limited Edition: prints will be limited to 100.
